Kali Puja Class

~~OM~~

Kal means Darkness; Kali takes away that Darkness. She takes away the darkness from every individual who strives in the path of perfection by performing the spiritual disciplines of purifying austerities. Just as all the colors of the spectrum mix into black, yet still black remains black, so too, Kali, who is completely Dark, Unknowable, takes away all the darkness, yet She, Herself, remains unchanged.

Kala means Time and i means the Cause; Kali, the Cause of Time or She Who is Beyond Time. All existence has its perception in time, and therefore the Cause of Time, She Who is Beyond Time, activates Consciousness to perception, allows Consciousness to perceive.

Kali Puja is a treasure house of Her Wisdom. It contains abundance of Kali's tools for living : Her Sattvic worship, Her Hundred Names, Her Thousand Names, Her Armor, the mantras for offering bhanga, alcohol, animal sacrifice and how to give birth to spiritual children.

Devi Yajna

~~OM~~

Devi Yajna is a recording of the mantras for enkindling the sacred fire from a fire sacrifice performed at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, in 2001. The recording is important not so much because of the number of people who attended, but because the system of worship used follows the Chandi Yajna Paddhoti or invitation of the Divine Mother, as compared with the class on video which used the Shiva Puja and Advanced Yajna Paddhoti, the invitation of Lord Shiva.

Advanced students who listen carefully will be able to distinguish how to change gender from masculine to feminine, and how and where to substitute mantras particular to Lord Shiva or particular to the Divine Mother Goddess as circumstances require.
