We are very happy to share this blog with devotees. Shree Maa suggested daily chanting of 3 malas of the Devi Prapannarti Hare mantra from the Chandi Path. May Mother fill our hearts with peace as we fulfill Her wish.

Devotees share

Devotees were asked this question, "What is one thing that you would do every day to please Divine Mother?" Here are their responses:

"Offer complete surrender with pure devotion."

"Remember Her and thank her in every moment."

"Regard all of Her children as my family and offer each one respect."

"Stay tuned to Her Presence in the mantra all day long, and all night."

One of the devotees shared a beautiful quotation about peace from Sri Ramakrishna:

"The more you come to God, the more you feel peace. Peace, peace, peace- supreme peace! The nearer you come to the Ganges, the more you feel its coolness. You will feel completely soothed when you plunge into the river."

~~OM~~

We are very happy to share this blog with devotees. Shree Maa suggested daily chanting of 3 malas of the Devi Prapannarti Hare mantra from the Chandi Path. May Mother fill our hearts with peace as we fulfill Her wish.

Meaning of the Mantra

Praseeda Vishveshvari Paahi Vishvam Tvameeshvari Devi Characharasya.

"Praseeda" means be pleased. "Vishveshwari" means Supreme of the Universe. Paahi is protect and Vishvam is the Universe. "Tvameeshvari" means You are Supreme. Devi means Goddess. "Characharasya" means over all that moves and does not move (Chara means that which moves, and achara is that which does not move).

Shree Maa says, "When you see that everything is in flux, you will see that "I" am not. Consciousness does not change, because it is always the same. The objects of awareness change." In our sankalpa mantra, Mother is praised as one who presides over all that moves and that does not move. She is both consciousness and the objects perceived by consciousness that are constantly changing."

Swamiji expresses this beautifully in His introduction to the Chandi. "I dance, and all that you perceive are its manifestations. If you like you can watch me dance, or if you like you can make me stop. He who can make me stop, I make him a seer, a being of wisdom, one of Intuitive vision, my husband, Lord Siva, the consciousness of Infinite Goodness"

May She grant us that intuitive vision!

We are very happy to share this blog with devotees. Shree Maa suggested daily chanting of 3 malas of the Devi Prapannarti Hare mantra from the Chandi Path. May Mother fill our hearts with peace as we fulfill Her wish.

Meaning of the Mantra

"Prasida Prasida Matar Jagoto-khilasya" means, "be pleased, be pleased, Oh Mother of the entire Perceivable World." Prasida means "be pleased." Mata is Mother. Jagat is the Perceivable World. Akhila is Entire or all of.

Shree Maa says

About the Perceivable Universe, Shree Maa says,

“I am everywhere,” says the sage. “I exist in every form of creation. If I hurt any form, I hurt myself. If raise any form to a higher level, I myself, find progress.” It is easy."

Devotees share

Here is what some devotees who are chanting this mantra share from their japa:

"I highly recommend the Peace Sankalpa to all Devi Mandir Yahoo! Group members. I feel so peaceful inside after just a few weeks of living with this mantra. With all that is going on in the world right now, we all need the inner peace that only Divine Mother."

"Yesterday we had a complete power outage here in the mountains...with over 2 feet of snow and temps in the 20's. As I sat in the darkening room and did japa, the ever present power of Divine Mother kept me warm, safe and peaceful." Then my boss drove through a complete whiteout to bring me food and start a fire in my woodburner. What an angel I work for. What a Divine Mother I take refuge in.

"It is such a wonderful mantra, every time I say it I feel I am talking to Divine Mother intimately. I found that 'prasida' also has the meaning 'to become tranquil, clear' and i feel the mantra has that effect on the mind:)"

"Thank you for this opportunity. Please forward gratitude to Shree Maa as is appropriate. This mantra is very soothing for my mind and being."

We are very happy to share this blog with devotees. Shree Maa suggested daily chanting of 3 malas of the Devi Prapannarti Hare mantra from the Chandi Path. May Mother fill our hearts with peace as we fulfill Her wish.

"Devi Prapannarti Hare" means, "Oh Goddess, you who remove the distress of all who take refuge in You." It is helpful to see the individual parts of this phrase.

Devi means, "Oh Goddess." Prapanna refers to one who takes refuge in God, one who has surrendered. Arti is suffering or distress. "Hare" means removes or takes away. When we take refuge in Her, trust Her completely, She removes all our sufferings, our distress.

Swamiji beautifully explains what it means to take refuge in this short video:

What is taking refuge?

In the words of a devotee

Thank you for the invitation to express how this sankalpa has changed us. As I have chanted this beautiful mantra this past year I have focused on the essence of devotion and the essence of taking refuge. I have prayed, "please Shree Maa, help me to be devoted to you in every area of my being, or, may I take refuge in you in every area of my being...my thoughts, my words, my listening, my heart, may I be grounded in devotion to you, the Consciousness and Energy of Infinite Goodness". I find that I worry less and praise more than I did before chanting this mantra, and rest in joy & contentment more easily than before. I am grateful.

Peace and Love to you, Jennifer

Sri Ramakrishna on Devotion

"Even after attaining samadhi, a devotee remains as a servant of God. He thinks only, "I am only a servant and You are my Lord. I am Your devotee and You are the Supreme Divinity." This is the attitude of a devotee. Even after attaining to realization of God, this attitude remains. All of the ego does not go. By practicing this attitude, we attain God. This is called union through the path of devotion."

"If you take hold of this path of devotion, you can attain to the goal of the path of wisdom, jnana as well. The Supreme Lord is all-powerful, If He wills it, He can even bestow jnana upon us. The devotee doesn't long for the Supreme Wisdom. He says, "I want to remain a servant and You are my Lord. I am a child and You are my Mother." This is the attitude he wants to maintain."

It is time for you to submerge yourself in the love of God

Oh, mind, dive deeper and deeper into the ocean of God's Holy form.

If you descend to the deepest depth, there you will find the jewels of love.

If you search and search, you will find that within your heart is the blissful Vrindavan

Light your heart with the lamp of wisdom.

Let it burn there illuminating your whole life.

Who will paddle your boat across the ocean of this world?

Kabir says, Listen and hear me.

Keep your mind and heart at the feet of you belove Guru!

Swamiji on the Worship of Mother Lalita

The written word cannot describe the tone of sound. Some things can only be learned from watching and listening toa qualified Guru. We need to hear and see, and only then can we inculcate into our own lives the tones of the Divine Mother. How can we describe Her being? After generations of reflection, the Vedic Rsis could only say "Neti, Neti"; She is not this and She is not that." How does one describe the sounds of the eternal Divine Mother? The tinkling of Her anklets, the generous sighing of Her compassion, the sincerity in a voice choked with emotion, raised in a pitch, calling upon divinity with both joy and respect.

Call upon the Divine Mother, sing Her names, narrate the tales of Her saints, and become inspired to greater achievement. She is our Beautiful, Playful, Beloved Mother. She grants the fruit of all karma. Worship Her with all your heart.
