Satya Narayana Vrat

The word “Satya” means truth and “Nārāyaṇa” is the Manifestation of the All Pervading Consciousness, represented as Lord Vishnu. Maha Vishnu (Maha means “great”) pervades the entire universe – everywhere and everything. In the form of Satya Nārāyaṇa , Lord Vishnu represents the embodiment of Truth.

Therefore, the significance and meaning of the Satya Nārāyaṇa Vrat is the vow to speak and act in Truth, to say what you mean and mean what you say. This is the most important practice for spiritual seekers in the Kali Yuga.

By performing the Satya Nārāyaṇa Vrat Puja in reverence of and gratitude to Lord Vishnu, we reach towards perfection – towards becoming a being of illumination and inspiring divinity by acting in Truth wherever we go, whatever we do.

When to Perform Satya Narayana Vrat Puja

The Satya Nārāyaṇa Vrat Puja is performed by devotees on the Full Moon (Purnima) day of every lunar month. While the Full Moon day is the most auspicious day, this puja can be performed on any day and for any reason. Often it is performed on special occasions such as marriage, the start of a new job, graduation, or moving into a new house. It can also be offered in gratitude to Lord Vishnu at times of significant achievements.

The puja can be performed in the morning or the evening, but evening is considered most appropriate. On the day of the puja, it is recommended that devotees fast and begin the puja after bathing.

How to Perform the Satya Narayana Vrat Puja

We worship Lord Vishnu on these auspicious days by performing the Satya Nārāyaṇa Vrat Puja and chanting the Viṣṇu Sahasranām.
