How To Do Japa
Mantra Japa is repeating a mantra over and over again to focus the mind on the deity of worship and the meaning of the mantra.
This practice calms the mind and awakens the power, or shakti, of the mantra inside of us. For example, Om Namah Shivaya has numerous benefits for the chanter. It helps us develop goals and stay focused on them, brings us stability and peace, and purifies negativities.
One mala is equivalent to 108 repetitions of the mantra, and a typical mala will have 108 beads. Choose a mantra from the list below and repeat it in multiples of 108.
