For so many years, Swami Satyananda Saraswati has passionately expounded on the beauty and the divine bliss experienced while doing “long asana sadhana.”
Swamiji often performs sadhana, building up from five to six hours in one sitting, to ten hours. He gets up early – at the break of dawn – and heads to the temple with no food or water. He puts down his knees, and with a firm Sankalpa, he doesn’t move them until finished.
It is truly amazing, and what’s equally amazing is that several devotees and disciples of the Devi Mandir in Yuba City, California are following in his footsteps.
Read their stories and capture their inspiration so that you too can begin your journey of disciplined sadhana.

Swamiji and Team,

Swamiji is ever steady with his chanting and pattern of pranayama/breathing.
I sit with him in awe. Here are these few disciples sitting and praying, inspired by his example, and we have this privilege to be with this holy, holy, humble being. He keeps sitting tall, he doesn’t wiggle.
What a phenomenal blessing to be in this quiet sanctuary!
If you really look at this, this reality, this body-and-soul truth, you see that this is the kind of entertainment and happiness you want. What so many are craving for and seeking in their worldly diversions.
