In the West, the “ego” is discussed a great deal. What is the Sanskrit equivalent, and what practices are best in the process of overcoming it?
What is EGO?
We equate “Ego” with Ahamkara.
The sense of “I” being different or distinguished from everything else, as compared with the “I” of Shiva, being Aham Brahmasmi.
Aham Brahmasmi means -: I am the Supreme Divinity, I am One with God, everything is a reflection of Me!
The best practice in the process of overcoming this sense of duality, “Ego I” is the Chandi Path. Remember, the Ego won the boon that only the Divine Mother can slay him.
Our fighting with our own Ego cannot lead to success. How I can slay I? I am still there.
The only alternative is to pray to Her, to the Shakti, the energy in all, to withdraw
Her energy from the duality and give it to the Unity.
So long as She removes Her Energy from thinking about me and mine, and gives us the inspiration to think about Her and Her’s, for such time we remain in the Unity of non-duality.
That is when we enjoy Her true Glory.
