Does attachment bring inefficiency? If so, what is the process which brings this phenomenon? What has Sri Krishna taught us about this?
“A quote from the Gita clarifies Krishna’s teaching on inefficiency”:
“karmany akarma yah pasyed
akarmani ca karma yah
sa buddhiman manusyesu
sa yuktah krtsna-karma-krt~ Bhagavad Gita, 4.18”
“One who sees inaction in action, and action in inaction, is intelligent among men, and he is in the transcendental position, although engaged in all sorts of activities.”
Bhagavad Gita, 2:47-
where Lord Krishna said, “You have authority over your actions, but never over the fruits. Never let your motive be to the fruits of your action, nor let your attachment cause inefficiency.”
Here the Sanskrit term used is Akarmani, which can mean inaction, useless action, inefficient action. Attachment causes inefficiency when the actor is thinking about the fruits of the action and not paying attention to the action itself. When the mind is filled with selfishness, the resulting inattentiveness will cause actors to make mistakes, and not complete the action efficiently, Or trying to complete the task quickly may cause an individual to leave the task incomplete, thinking to receive the fruits of completion rather than the fruits of absorption in the performance for God.
Being attached to materialist things, we bring inefficiency and suffering in our lives. We should be only attached to the supreme God because such attachment takes away your suffering. Lord Krishna has warned us about such maternal attachments in many verses of the Bhagavad Gita. And these attachments develop due to many reasons. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us that we should always strive for efficiency by paying attention in every action and not too long for the fruits of what our actions produce. Such distractions cause inefficiency by diverting our attention and make our end result to be less than the perfection we desire.
