Shree Maa’s Urad Dal is an enjoyable way to provide protein into your diet, and even more so, when combined with whole grains and milk products. This recipe calls for split Urad Dal complemented with seasonings: black pepper, cinnamon powder, caradom, cumin, coriander, and anise. You may also add a pinch of red chilli to taste.
Ingredients
4 cups black split urad dal
1 can tomato sauce
black pepper
cinnamon powder
cardamom powder
cooking spices:
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon hing
2 teaspoons cumin powder
3 teaspoons anise powder
bay leaves
little bit red chilli powder
salt
haldi (turmeric)
grated ginger
Directions
1. Cook dal together with all of the cooking spices. Pressure cook for about 4 whistles – it takes a long time to cook.
2. Open pressure cooker and add black pepper, cinnamon powder and cardamom powder. Add tomato sauce.
